Description
Monollage is my name for this type of one-of-a-kind textile art work.
It starts with an inspirational piece of cloth that I print by applying textile paint to my paint board or gel plate. I never have a preconceived idea of what the end result will be but instead let the flow of the paint, the movement of my implements and the scrunch of the fabric dictate the pleasing effect. Most of the time I have several goes at it, layering paint over paint to create depth. The painted cloth is then turned into a quilt, stitched then collaged with various items.
This particular piece is mono-printed cloth with textile paint, hand-made & painted cotton rag paper, discarded wooden & cotton swab paint stirrers.
The final framed size of this Monollage is 13″ x 13″ in keeping with the proportions in the Fibonacci Golden Ration number sequence.
